In the land of Lincoln

Super hilly Missouri has given way to the lovely land of Lincoln! Sunday's 75 mile ride ended just beyond the state line in Quincy. The route was a rather soggy experience, with quite a bit of rain. Mom was luckily able to get her wet weather gear out of the group truck at the SAG, but still had to seek shelter later under an awning during some of the heaviest downpours. She crossed over the muddy Mississippi and into IL on a two lane bridge with no shoulder, which forced the group to move into the road. Mom stopped off the side of the road beyond the bridge to take a picture of the state line sign and sprinkle her sand (she remembered this time!), but had to start the next steep climb from a dead stop. She said it was straight up! I'm sure she had plenty to do last night, with a mud covered bike to be cleaned. Her total mileage to date is 2040.
