Going to Great Bend, Kansas

Today's weather was completely different from yesterday. We had a beautiful day!! Bright blue sky, no rain and calmer winds. What a huge difference.

In Larned a small diner had a sign out welcoming bikers. Some of our riders had stopped already. Inside we were warmly welcomed by the staff and the locals. The owner of the diner wanted us all to sign a book and note where we were from. They also had a map on the wall of the U.S. We were to put a pin on our home. Joanna and I split a great veggie sandwich. For dessert I had homemade custard pie. YUMMY!

Note about yesterday- as we passed the highway split off to Greensburg, Ks. we noticed the road was closed. They still are not letting people through. Remember, this is the town blown off the map by a tornado.

Stats:

88.2 miles

5:18 time

25.5 max

16.6 average

Total miles this trip : 1484

Lisa, I mean Hammerhead, I can't believe some of the averages you are doing. I guess most of us will only see you from the rear, when you pass us, when you get back. Sounds like you are having a great time. Makes me feel like I'd like to do it again, but that's only dreaming. Hope your trip continues to me safe. See you when you come through Indy.
