After her brief stay in Indy, Mom is on the road again. Today was a "super nice", easy ride to Richmond on some of the smoothest roads of the tour. The route started out on 86th Street, which was luckily deserted early in the morning. Dan and 8 of their riding buddies met her about 17 miles out and rode along part of the route. Mom enjoyed letting them take turns pulling as she chatted with everyone and caught up on all the latest news. They parted at the SAG stop, where the tour riders enjoyed 7 dozen cookies and 4 dozen doughnuts that Mom ordered from Boyden's as a special treat. This was definitely a hit, as there were only two cookies left afterwards! Luckily the wind was at her back for most of the day, allowing Mom to roll along on her aero bars for a while at 20-22 mph. Her stats for this "great" day: 83 miles, 5 hrs 9 min, max speed 27.4, avg speed 16.2. She says "thank you" to Dan, Tony, Kevin, Kristen, Jim, Kate, Steve, Kyle, and Roger for riding with her today and also to Pete, Mark McClure and Ivis for coming out to greet her on Friday. Your support means the world to her and she says she carries it along with her!
